Certified Co-Occurring Disorders Professional

This classification is viewed as the title for the individual providing assessment and counseling to clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders; who has knowledge and skills specific to both mental and substance use disorders; and assists persons with co-occurring disorders to engage in and maintain a process of recovery. This is an international credential that is recognized throughout the world via reciprocity.

 

CCDP REQUIREMENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

One year (2,000 hours) out of the last 10 years of paid, supervised employment in drug and alcohol or mental health. Two years (4,000 hours) out of the 10 must be providing integrated services to clients with co-occurring disorders.

Bachelor’s degree or higher.

200 hours of education of which 140 must be integrated and specifically related to the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the tasks within the Co-Occurring Disorders Professional performance domains 30 must be addiction specific, 30 must be mental health specific, including 6 in ethics.

200 hours of supervision obtained during employment.

Pass a written exam.

Submission of application, all documentation, and fee.

CCDP is a 2 year credential and must be recertified.
