Good-byes are Never
Easy PCB is saying good-bye and best wishes to two individuals who have left their mark on the organization and whose contributions will be felt for years to come. PCB board member Tim Davenport is leaving the Board of Directors after seven years. Tim has been a phenomenal board member and friend to all on the board. He has been serving as co-chair of the PCB Ethics Committee, served on the Marketing Committee, and chaired the task force that brought about the new CAAC credential. Prior to Tim’s appointment to the PCB Board of Directors, he was the recipient of the 2003 PCB President’s Award.
Tim always held the best interest of the field and consumers of our services first and foremost in his involvement with PCB. His dedication to the certification process will have a lasting impact on all who have worked side by side with Tim over the years. Thank you does not seem adequate to express our deep appreciation to him. From everyone at PCB, know that you will be missed and are deeply loved. Also leaving PCB but in a different capacity is staff member Janet Harbin. Janet came to PCB over 16 years ago and found a home with us. She quickly became an extremely important and valuable member of the staff, most recently as Director of Certification. Janet was responsible for reviewing all applications for initial certification and recertification. She was the first point of contact for most every addiction professional who ever contacted our office. Hers was often a thankless job as she dealt with applicants who did not always meet our standards and were denied access to our credentials. To say that some applicants did not take the news well would be an understatement! When IC&RC was taken in by PCB over five years ago, Janet was the primary staff person who sorted through the mess, made sense of IC&RC’s processes and whipped them back into shape. Words of thanks for her many hours of overtime during that period of time cannot begin to express what that meant to all of us. Janet’s retirement from PCB will mean spending lots more quality time with her precious first grandchild, Lucas and enjoyment of anticipating the birth of her second grandson this summer as well as travel and hobbies calling her name. Our close “sisterhood” in the office will never be the same without our “big sis.” The Board of Directors and staff extend gracious thanks, wishes Janet all the best, and hopes that she enjoys the wonderful years ahead.
