Important Recertification Changes

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

A number of changes have been made to the recertification application and process.  The recert process has stayed the same for many years and the board and staff of PCB felt it was time to update it.  A summary is listed below.  Please see the recertification application for full details. The changes take effect immediately.

Multiple credentials will be charged the full recertification fee for the first credential you obtained and all other credentials you hold will be $50 each to recertify.  Example:  If you received a CAC in 2000 and a CCJP in 2005, you will pay $50 for the CCJP and $150 for the CAC.  The order of the recertification dates does not matter.  If your CCJP recert is due prior to your CAC, you will pay $50 for the CCJP and $150 when the CAC is due.

CCS and Certificate of Competency in Problem Gambling recerts have been changed to $50 each to accommodate new multiple credential pricing.

All of your credentials’ expiration dates may be changed to the same date (that of your original, first credential) for a fee of $25 per credential being changed.  You may gain more time or lose time depending on your current expiration dates and when you choose to ask for the date change.  You are responsible for calculating any extra or lost time that may occur for recertifying a credential if you choose to change your dates.  You must complete the Expiration Date Change Request Form. Changing one or all of your expiration dates to match your original credential’s is optional.  A new certificate will be sent once expiration date change is complete.

Please note that if you recertify a 2nd credential for $50 and subsequently let your original credential expire before its next recertification, you will be invoiced for the balance of the full recertification fee for the 2nd credential (it then becomes your primary credential).

Education approval fee(for trainings not PCB approved) will be $10 for one training and $20 for two or more trainings – no limit.  The most you could be charged for all education approval is $20.

Reinstatement Fee  If your recertification is not completed by your expiration date, PCB will not be charging a monthly late fee.  Instead, a reinstatement fee of $100.00 will be added to your recertification charges to regain your credential (fee will cover between 1 day and 12 months late).  Recertification applications can be sent in months early to avoid being late if there are problems with your materials.

Recertification will be possible up to 12 months past your expiration date only.  After 12 months, you will have to reapply for the expired credential, meeting current requirements and taking any tests you did not take when you first applied.  Reapplication fees will range from $100 to $300 depending on the credential.

The number of required Continuing Education hours may have changed for your credential(s).  Please check the recertification application

3 hours of Ethics education has a new definition (there are expanded acceptable trainings).
