The Red Rock Job Corps Center seeks a TEAP Counselor.  Our campus is located in Lopez near Ricketts Glenn State Park.  The Center offers residential and options in career skills, academic and vocational training for young adults from 16-24 years old.  

TEAP Counselor

Coordinates overall Center-wide drug, alcohol and tobacco use, abuse and prevention activities.

Develops new and revised programs to prevent alcohol, drug and tobacco use and abuse among the student population.  Individually develops and coordinates community resources for educating students on substance use and abuse.  Coordinates activities with other Center staff.  Assists in identifying students with substance abuse problems and arranges for appropriate treatment.  Counsels students individually and in groups on substance abuse.  Arranges and conducts structured TEAP prevention groups and related activities. Administers the Center's zero tolerance substance abuse programs and related testing.  Administers the 45-day initial positive test recovery program.  Assists staff with TEAP referrals.  Conducts student and staff training in TEAP issues and strategies.  Mentors, monitors and models the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH. (Workplace Relationships and Ethics; Communications; Personal Growth and Development; Interpersonal Skills; Information Management; Multicultural Awareness; Career and Personal Planning; and Independent Living)

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Drug and Alcohol Counseling, Counseling Social Work, or related area required. Certification in Substance Abuse Counseling/Prevention required. Prefer 2 years related experience.

BASE PAY: $35,000 annually

 37.5 hour workweek, primarily Monday-Friday with flexibility to meet consumer needs. Some non-traditional hours (evenings, weekends and holidays) required. Will provide on-call services on a rotating basis.

Master’s degree in Human Service AND 1 year of paid practical experience in essential areas of substance abuse treatment, including assessment, evaluation and clinical interventions. Knowledge of harm reduction strategies preferred. CAC Certification Preferred.

Credentialed and Non-Credentialed position available. Requires Act 33/34 & FBI Clearances, valid PA. Driver’s license. Will need access to a vehicle.

Provides direct and indirect services for adult mentally ill and dual diagnosed consumers.  Major responsibilities include substance abuse interventions (evaluation and assessment), group therapy and case management.  Participates in Treatment Team, including collaboration with psychiatrists and other agency staff.  Maintains clinical records according to agency policies and procedures. Assist targeted adults with serious and persistent mental illness and targeted children with a serious mental illness or emotional disorder and their families in accessing services, building support networks and resolving conflicts.
