CANCELED: Using a Trauma-informed Approach in Treating SUD’s

This training will explore the inter-relationship of Adverse Childhood experiences (ACE) and adult substance abuse and mental health disorders. Attachment during childhood can have a profound impact on brain development increasing the risk of developing substance use and mental health disorders and is also strongly correlated to other health-risk behaviors later in life. The use and effectiveness of basic screening instruments, such as the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) survey in diagnosis and treatment will be explored. Participants will learn how to integrate trauma-informed care principles into treatment to improve treatment outcomes.
