The Power of Group Work in Healing SUDs (DDAP Office)

This training will highlight curative factors associated with group counseling and review the stages of group work. Experiential learning will be utilized to demonstrate creative and effective ideas for running drug and alcohol treatment groups. We will focus on how to engage group members in the treatment process, by using creative activities and ideas. Participants will develop a general understanding of group dynamics, as well as key elements in group therapy facilitation. Participants will learn about contributing strategies in successful group work, as well as walk away with concrete group treatment ideas and activities that can be used to promote healing, accomplish treatment goals and support recovery. Lastly, documentation and writing progress notes in group work will be reviewed.
