The Department of Counseling and Human Development is seeking applications for a Temporary Part-Time Faculty member to fill the position of a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC). The opportunity to work during summer and winter breaks for additional pay is likely if desired. This anticipated start date is January 2023.

EFFECTIVE TEACHING AND PERFORMANCE OF PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct alcohol and other addiction assessments and provide individual and group counseling for students with addiction concerns. Maintain appropriate assessment and counseling records.

Provide BASICS and CASICS interventions for students referred for AOD education and assessment.

Collaborate with University Housing and Conference Services, Student Health Services, Student Conduct and Community Standards, University Police, and The Center for Health Education and Promotion in educating students and assessing students referred to the Counseling Center because of addiction concerns. Utilize Wellness/Harm Reduction models.

Work cooperatively with community social agencies, hospitals, clinics, courts, and other community resources to meet the needs of university students and assist them in utilizing these resources when appropriate.

Consult with administrators, faculty, parents, students and staff regarding student alcohol and other drug abuse and other addiction concerns.

Attend peer supervision meetings and other departmental meetings essential for temporary part-time faculty.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.

Certification as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) OR Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) OR related discipline.

Counseling and crisis intervention experience with a diverse client population.

Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.

Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Successful interview and case presentation.

Successful completion of three background checks.
