We are currently hiring for full time Counselors at our White Deer Run of Allenwood location and our White Deer Run of Williamsport (Partial Program) locations.
The Counselor positions ensure clinical treatment services are provided in a way that maximizes client independence and as applicable family empowerment. The counselors provide individual and group therapeutic/counseling services to clients.

Responsibilities

• Treatment Planning
o Reviews assessment findings and interprets results to client and significant others.
o Client agrees with and is aware of treatment plan goals.
o Reassess treatment plan at intervals based on client feedback and outcomes and when indicated adjust the plans.
• Individual Counseling
o Establishes an effective working relationship with the client, which facilitates client cooperation in the treatment process.
o Is aware of and recommends a variety of best practice, evidenced based treatment interventions to the client and treatment team counseling strategies that are sensitive to the individual characteristics of the client.
o Intervenes during patient crisis using individualized approach and additional resources as needed.
• Group Counseling
o Demonstrates ability to manage group dynamics, including setting boundaries, responding to individual needs and facilitating group discussion to align with treatment goals.
o Facilitates group counseling, identifies goals and outcomes with treatment team; generally balances group with individual patient needs; generally addresses and leverages the group experience to address topics that are better addressed individually; establishes and regulates boundaries and ground rules.
o Assessment
o Appropriately uses comprehensive assessment instruments, including the Biopsychsocial, and interview strategies that are sensitive to age, gender, and culture of client.
o Uses data from a comprehensive assessment to form appropriate treatment recommendations.
• Educational & Didactic Groups
o May prepare educational material for patient groups on established topics.
o Presents and facilitates patient group discussions on educational material that support patient recovery and as required, dual diagnosis treatment.
o Demonstrates ability to facilitate educational groups which include lecturing, using materials effectively and leveraging participants’ discussion as teaching points.
o Documentation
 Maintains client records related to screening, intake, treatment, continuing care, progress toward goals and objectives, discharge summary, and treatment outcomes that are accurate, concise, and useful for documenting involvement with a client.
 Carefully follows federal and state laws and agency guidelines to maintain the confidentiality of client records.
 Case Management
 Establishes and maintains relationship with referral sources, selected agencies and other professionals, by learning about their services and making client referrals.
 Responds in a timely manner to requests for information from agencies, referral source and other providers.
 Understands the characteristics and dynamics of the client’s support system. Facilitates client’s family, and/or significant others to understand the interaction between home and family systems and behavioral disorders, and works with significant others to identify strategies and behaviors that sustain recovery and build healthy relationships.
 Discharge Planning
 Reviews a comprehensive discharge/recovery plan with the client and significant others, including implications of full compliance on the client’s daily life.
 Works with the receiving agencies to exchange relevant and appropriate information, consistent with the client’s rights to confidentiality and best professional practice.
 Involves referral resources as part of the recovery planning process to meet the needs of the client, sharing appropriate information and treatment objectives within the limits of confidentiality and professional practice.

Qualifications

Requirements
• Requires Bachelors Degree in related field.
Experience in field preferred, but not required.
Certified Addictions Certification or Licensed Professional Counselor or Social Work License preferred, but not required
