Responsibilities

May perform all or part of the following duties
• May provide official regulatory services for Agency by reviewing and signing client treatment plans as needed
• Exercises discretion and judgment in executing duties relying on advanced education coursework and applicable experience
• Provides initial and ongoing assessment for clients in order to determine diagnosis and appropriate level of care
• Provides individual, family and group counseling, which engages and motivates clients throughout treatment
• Develops treatment plans that are individualized and culturally sensitive
• Communicates with other care providers and referral sources to increase understanding of client problems and assets
• Actively participates in professional supervision and education that supports continuous improvement of client care
• Completes required medical record documentation in a timely and comprehensive manner and in compliance with NYS OASAS and Medicaid regulations. Effectively utilizes Agency’s medical records software program(s)
• Meets productivity requirements by utilizing various techniques to engage clients and minimize failed appointments
• Participates as a leading member of an interdisciplinary team in coordination and delivery of patient care
• Maintains status as QHP as required by job title. Recognized as an expert in the field, and provides guidance to other less experienced counselors
• Is compliant with regulations governing HIV: NYS Public Health Law, NYS OASAS Regulations 42CFR, and other patient confidentiality requirements
• May provide backup for Program Director as needed, and facilitates case management meetings
• May participate as a member of the Agency’s Leadership Team
• Performs other related duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
• Hires, trains, develop, and appraise staff effectively. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Consults with Human Resources as appropriate
• Keeps up-to-date on information and technology affecting functional area to increase innovation and ensure compliance
• Maintains employee productivity by allocating resources and delegating tasks appropriate to employee skills and availability
• Obtains and analyzes factual information relevant to objectives, and clearly defines work procedures to produce expected results
• Provides guidance and direction to employees to assist in their professional development
• Communicates in a clear, concise manner via verbal or written form with employees and other groups to ensure comprehension
• Monitors results of delegated assignments, and make suggestions as appropriate
• Anticipates needs, and establishes department priorities and courses of action to meet daily objectives. Fills in as necessary to ensure coverage of office operations
• Evaluates and examines department areas to ensure products/services meet established standards and are completed within time limits

Qualifications

EDUCATION
Required Bachelors degree; valid Drivers License or availability of reliable driver
Preferred Masters degree
Field Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field preferred
EXPERIENCE
Required Prior Supervisory experience
Preferred Seven years of clinical and supervisory experience in an addiction treatment setting
REQUIRED CREDENTIAL / LICENSE Status as a QHP, as identified by NYS OASAS (i.e., CASAC, LMSW, LCSW, RN)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• General computer skills, including keyboard and mouse operations; visual and/or auditory capacity.
• The employee may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is expected to adhere to strict policies/regulations relative to being in a tobacco-and alcohol-free workplace.
