The Human Resources assistant performs duties of a varying nature while assisting with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the human resources functions and duties. The HR assistant carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: departmental development, HRIS, employee relations, training and development, benefits administration, compensation, recruitment and onboarding, organization development, executive administration, and employment.

Essential Job Functions
• Assists the HR Director with recruitment and staffing logistics including attendance at recruitment fairs and community networking.
• Ensures compliance with all necessary HR processes and procedures as required by funders, government, state and local bodies.
• Assists in the performance management and improvement tracking processes
• Helps develop and implement employee orientation and training strategies including recordkeeping.
• Assists the HR Director with employee relations, investigations and various projects as needed.
• Participates in agency-wide committee facilitation around safety, employee relations, events and any other related topics.
• Assists with the employee safety, welfare, wellness, and health reporting; and employee services;
• Helps maintain timely and accurate employee records and HRIS data.
• Helps conduct audits of various compensation, benefits or other HR programs and aids in the open enrollment process.
• Performs all clerical functions and other duties as assigned.

Edits work for spelling and grammar, presents numerical data effectively and is able to read and interpret written information.
• Planning/organizing—the individual prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.
• Quality control—the individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality and perform it in an ethical manner.
• Computer/Technical competency—the individual has moderate to advanced computer skills which includes MS Office software applications (Word, Excel etc.) and familiarity with HRIS databases.
• Dependability—the individual is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance.
• Safety and security—the individual actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures, and uses equipment and materials properly.

Physical Demands

Talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The HR Assistant is required to travel up to 20% of the time and must be able to get in and out of a vehicle

Qualifications

Minimum of an Associates’ degree in business, human resources or other closely related field with at least one year applicable experience or three years of increasing technical or administrative experience in human resources related activities. SHRM/HRCI certification a big plus. This position requires a background check, a valid Driver’s license and personal transportation for occasional travel to other locations.
