Join the team at TW Ponessa & Associates Counseling Services, Inc. to provide mental health services to children and adolescents in the home, school and community settings. The Therapeutic Staff Support (TSS) employee gives one-on-one support to emotionally disturbed children or adolescents. The main goals of the TSS are to follow the treatment plan, help the child/adolescent eliminate inappropriate behavior(s), provide emotional support to the child, and assist those responsible for the child in fostering greater independence and socially responsible behavior. The TSS will encourage social integration and participation in group activities. He or she will use rewards and consequences to achieve goals and will record data and chart progress of the child/adolescent.
TSS services are supportive, time-limited, one-to-one planned behavioral health interventions directed by a detailed treatment plan. TSS services are to be used for children/adolescents who have been diagnosed with serious emotional disturbance, for whom it is determined that use of professional services alone (e.g., outpatient psychotherapy, MT, or family based rehabilitation services) is insufficient to meet established needs. TSS services are to be used when these other resources and services are documented within the psychological or psychiatric evaluation as insufficient or inadequate to meet the needs of the child/adolescent and family, or as a step down from a more restrictive setting to reinforce the effect of treatment and help establish the family/community support the child/adolescent needs. The child/adolescent presents social, emotional or behavioral issues that result in impairment that substantially interferes with or limits the child/adolescent’s role or functioning in family, school, or community activities. The services may be provided in a variety of settings, including a group home, and non-secure juvenile justice placement.
