Warm Hand-Off Recovery Support Specialist

Treatment Access and Services Center (TASC) is currently seeking PART TIME employees for the Warm Hand-Off (WHO) program, working out of the Emergency Department at the Reading Hospital in West Reading, PA.

Successful candidates will serve as a liaison to connect patients to detoxification, rehab, or MAT outpatient services, provide support and education to patients, as well as providing encouragement, coaching, and recovery information to patients. Primary clients will be opiate overdose survivors; secondary clients will be opiate withdrawal; tertiary population served will be any patient presenting with a substance abuse disorder. This is a peer support role, with staff also regularly interfacing with the medical and social work team.

We are hiring more part-time staff for the Warm Hand-off Program at Reading Hospital’s Emergency Department. We need at least 4 more staff, PRN, and really need some for 3rd shift (weekends and holidays mostly, with some fill-ins during the week on occasion). I attached the job description and posting.

Pay rates:
1st shift $18/hour
2nd shift $19/hour
3rd shift $20/hour

Responsibilities

• Meet with all opiate overdose survivors, their presenting loved ones, and
patients presenting with substance use disorders, as requested by staff.
• Promptly respond to hotline calls.
• Provide support, encouragement, hope, and recovery and resource information to patients, families, and hospital staff.
• Obtain patient information and consents/releases.
• Conduct bed searches for possible admission into detox/residential treatment facilities, schedule transportation to detox/rehab and provide facility information to patient and presenting loved ones.
• Accurately enter data into CPR-Web, daily fax RSS referral forms/consents to TASC.
• Professionally interface with hospital staff at all times.
• Provide follow up information to Client Services Supervisor and/or Executive Director.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Active Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) credentials from PCB (PA Certification Board)
• 3+ years of continuous sobriety if identifying as a person in long-term recovery from a substance use disorder.
• Ability to use a laptop, fax machine, and strong typing skills.
