Full time position for outpatient substance abuse counselor.
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
One evening to 8:00 pm could be possible.
Conducting screenings for determination of emergency medical needs
Conducting substance abuse evaluations to determine the presence or absence of a substance abuse problem, and determination of level of care
Providing direct clinical and/or supportive chemical dependency services to individual clients, members of their families, and/or significant others, to aid them in achieving a more satisfactory adjustment to their specific problems or situations.
Designing treatment plans by utilizing knowledge of alcohol and drug dependency, counseling, and treatment methods, tailoring approach to individual needs.
Working in close cooperation with other social service agencies, hospitals, clinics, courts, and community resources in planning to meet the needs of clients, and assists them in utilizing their resources.
Preparing dictation and record keeping as required by specific agency programs, on a timely basis as directed by the supervisor.
Adhering to established regulations, policies and procedures of the overall agency and their specific component.
Attending seminars, conferences and training to enhance skills and performance as directed by the supervisor.
Performing in an advisory capacity to other professional staff in specialized areas through participation in conferences and meetings for purpose of diagnosis and plan of treatment.
Other duties, as assigned.
Master's Degree preferred, or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college with a major in Chemical Dependency, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Nursing (with a clinical specialty in the human services) or other related field.
All candidates must pass FBI, PA Criminal Background and Child Abuse Clearances.
The Diocese of Scranton requires that all employees complete an initial VIRTUS Training Program, designed to empower organizations and people to better control risk and improve the lives of all those who interact with the Church.
Employees will also be required to monitor the VIRTUS website and complete any internet updates as they become assigned.
Employees must also complete all other training programs, outservices, inservices, conferences, seminars, conventions, etc., as assigned by the Training Coordinator.
