What Are Peer Recovery Support Services?

SAMHSA/HHS 2009 report providing descriptions of the benefits of peer supports across a variety of settings. This report includes descriptions of the distinguishing characteristics of peer supports, areas where they are appropriately engaged and areas requiring improvement. The report was one of the first of its kind to review peer processes from organizations receiving governmental grants to develop and increase peer support presence across SUD treatment and community environments.
