Montco Recovery Center is looking for a dynamic Full Time Substance Abuse Counselor that has experience with individuals who have struggled with substance abuse and/or co-occurring mental health issues. A background in art/music/pet therapy, mindfulness, trauma, or any other specialty practice is a plus as we strive to offer a unique clinical experience to clients on the road to recovery from substance abuse.

The counselor is responsible for maintaining an individual client caseload as well as facilitating group, individual, and family therapy at the PHP, IOP, and/or outpatient levels of care.

The counselor will conduct bio-psychosocial assessments and support client growth through coordination of all program areas including record keeping, program activities, treatment planning, group sessions, individual sessions, family sessions, discharge/transition planning, and crisis management. The therapist will maintain an open line of communication through regular interactions with the treatment team.

Responsibilities

Gather comprehensive diagnostic information through a biopsychosocial assessment and develop a comprehensive treatment plan with the client that effectively addresses client's needs that is both measurable and objective.

Demonstrate adequate preparation and understanding of client issues, progress, areas of resistance and use good clinical judgment in moving patient through various levels of care.

Maintain clinical records according to regulatory entities, document the client's progress accurately as it relates to treatment goals and objectives, ensure that documentation is timely, consistent, clear and articulate and keep clinical records secure at all times.

Lead and/or co-facilitate group therapy sessions in a manner that creates an atmosphere in which clients gain insight into problems and utilizes experiential techniques effectively.

Maintain appropriate therapeutic boundaries while demonstrating good problem-solving skills

Provide individual counseling to clients, maintain regular contact and open communication with families, assist families in identifying the problems and issues, conduct family therapy sessions, and assist families in finding resources to help themselves as appropriate.

Be effective in finding and linking client with internal and external resources as needed to meet patient needs.

Assist client in managing outside stressors (legal, financial, vocational, etc.) according to the best interests of the client's progress in recovery

Have good work habits: get things done in a timely, efficient manner, adhere to time schedules, maintain good communication, demonstrate willingness to accept responsibility and function well as a team member and contribute positively to the morale of staff.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Master's degree with 2 years experience in the substance use disorder field

CADC or relevant credential or eligibility to receive relevant credentials.
