CMSU has part-time (per diem) opportunities for certified peer specialists to work in its Peer Run Crisis Residential program; The Path Home in the Orangeville area of Bloomsburg PA.
The program is a short-term 5-7 day alternative to hospitalization for up to 3 individuals who are experiencing acute crises.
Certified peer specialists play an important role in fulfilling CMSU's mission: "To participate actively in a community-wide partnership to support residents of Columbia, Montour, Snyder, and Union counties in acheiving independence and personal development in order to enhance their quality of life."

Responsibilities

The CPS will demonstrate an understanding of the Recovery Model and serve as a role model for people with serious mental illness to assist them with their recovery from acute crises.
CPS's working at the PATH Home will assist individuals with creating strengths based assessments and service plans.
CPS's will assist and will engage indivduals in developing crisis plans and post-crisis plans such as WRAP, Common Ground Recovery Library Personal Medicine, and other recovery oriented coping skills during their short stay of 5 to 7 days in the program.

Qualifications

Current PCB Credential as a Certified Peer Specialist is preferred.
Non-PCB certified must obtain PCB Certification within 6 months of hire date and maintain PCB certification for duration of employment with CMSU PATH home.
Completion of County Civil Service Social Services Aide 1 questionarre with eligible passing score.(instructions at interview)
Completion of current Child Abuse & FBI Criminal History clearances. (fee reimbursed if hired)
State Police record check will be obtained by CMSU
Valid driver's license as per record check to be obtained by CMSU.
A reliable method of transportation to and from the work place as scheduled is essential.
Ability to establish a trusting relationship with peers.
Basic computer skills or ability to utilize iPad technology to complete electronic documentation.
CMSU can provide WRAP 1 training if it was not included in your CPS training.
Completion of 3-day PaPsc "CPS Working in Crisis" is a plus, but will be offered after successful completion of probationary period.
