We are hiring a Peer-Specialist who will function as an interdisciplinary team member, assisting with investigators and other professional personnel in a rehabilitation research project. Peer specialists perform a variety of therapeutic and supportive tasks that include assisting Veterans in articulating their goals for recovery and personal wellness, learning and practicing new skills, helping them monitor their progress, assisting them in their treatment modeling effective coping techniques and self-help strategies based on the peer specialist’s own recovery experience.

• Subject to background/security investigation
• Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process
• Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP)

Responsibilities

Helping to connect Veterans (virtually) to mental health care in the VA. This peer will also work with rural Veterans who are at high risk for suicide (hybrid in person and virtual) connect with a supporter of the Veteran's choosing after a suicide related emergency (such as discharge from an inpatient stay or visit to the ER for suicide).
