POSITION OVERVIEW: JFK’s Drug & Alcohol Therapists provide direct clinical care to clients managing substance use & chemical dependency. For our Drug & Alcohol walk-in setting, our therapists serve the local community by:
• Providing clinical diagnostic and counseling therapy for individuals, groups & family/couples; and Drug and Alcohol assessments/intakes
• Designs a program of treatment and rehabilitation tailored to patient's individual situation based on knowledge of alcohol and drug dependency and counseling and treatment methods.
• Using a collaborative approach to treatment planning, exchanging resources & ideas to promote strength, recovery & resilience
• Modifying treatment programs based on observations and maintaining case histories.
• Identifying social, economic, and health programs & resources appropriate to support community integration.
WE ARE SEEKING DEDICATED PROFESSIONALS WHO:
• Desire to embrace and advance the philosophy and objectives of JFK Behavioral Health
• Are motivated to construct and implement impactful therapeutic techniques
• Can establish rapport and cooperative relationships with individuals possessing diminished social and emotional capacity
• Understand substance use, treatment and the dynamics of co-occurring disorders
• Understand the social factors which contribute to attitudes and behaviors
• Are organized and can memorialize client progress, treatment plans and daily clinical documentation to satisfy regulatory requirements.
• Have an awareness of the laws, regulations and rules governing the provision of behavioral health services
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
• Master’s degree in the behavioral or social sciences; ideally inclusive of studies in social work/welfare, mental health, substance use & recovery, and/or public health -OR-
• Bachelor’s degree behavioral or social sciences; ideally inclusive of studies in substance use & recovery -OR-
• Full certification as an addiction’s counselor by a statewide certification body and
• Relevant internship experience in mental health/substance use & recovery care delivery; post-master’s experience is strongly preferred.
