Outreach Specialist – SEPTA SCOPE Program

$20.00-$23.08/hour | Full-time | Monday-Friday | Philadelphia

CATCH is partnering with SEPTA to build a new outreach team focused on connecting vulnerable people across Philadelphia’s transit system with the help and services they need.

As an Outreach Specialist, you’ll work in a two-person field team, primarily engaging people experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges and substance use. You’ll build trust, assess immediate needs and connect people to shelter, treatment, recovery support, behavioral health care and other community resources. When someone accepts help, you’ll help make that connection happen.

This is hands-on outreach work, not security or law enforcement. You’ll have CATCH’s behavioral health and community-service network behind you, work closely with SEPTA and other partners throughout the city, and have the training, technology and tools needed to do the job well.

What you can expect

$20.00-$23.08/hour
Full-time, Monday-Friday
Two-person field teams; no solo outreach
CATCH-provided mobile technology and tools for real-time field documentation
Training in de-escalation, overdose response, mental health, First Aid and SEPTA safety
CATCH-sponsored Certified Peer Specialist or Certified Recovery Specialist credential development for eligible employees
Medical, dental and vision coverage for eligible full-time employees

Schedule
Employees will be assigned to one of two Monday-Friday shifts:
5:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.

Applicants must be able to reliably work at least one of these schedules. Shift availability and preference will be discussed during the initial phone screen.

Who we’re looking for

Relevant backgrounds may include:

Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) or Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS)
Behavioral health, recovery or substance-use services
Homelessness or street/community outreach
Case management or crisis services
Residential or other direct human-services work
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related human-services field
You do not need to already hold a CPS or CRS credential to apply. CATCH will review each applicant’s education, experience and credentials against the SEPTA program requirements, and eligible employees may be sponsored through an approved credential pathway after hire.

You’ll also need a valid driver’s license, strong communication skills, reliable attendance and comfort working in an active public-transit environment.
