Who We Are

PCB is a private, non-profit corporation which offers voluntary credentialing to substance use and other behavioral health professionals. PCB implements standards and testing for certification of addiction counselors, prevention specialists, clinical supervisors, criminal justice addictions professionals, co-occurring disorders professionals, auxiliary professionals, recovery specialists and intervention professionals.


PCB establishes, safeguards, and monitors certification standards for professionals in the substance abuse and other behavioral health fields. It advocates for quality, comprehensive substance abuse and other behavioral health services and offers management to related organizations.


PCB shall pursue this mission by:


  • Developing standards and credentialing processes;
  • Maintaining ethical standards and procedures for consumer protection;
  • Lobbying, advocating, and representing to governmental groups;
  • Providing curricula and standards for training and education;
  • Offering management services to other organizations;
  • Offering other services to providers and professionals.
