Connection in Action: Practical Tools for Recovery Oriented Therapy

This workshop explores experiential techniques to address contributors to return-to-use and promote recovery through connection. Drawing on decades of clinical experience in relapse focused treatment, presenters will demonstrate practical, interactive strategies that professionals can integrate into their work with clients. The session emphasizes moving beyond psychoeducation to create authentic engagement and emotional sobriety.

Goals & Objectives:

  • Identify common contributors to return-to-use.
  • Demonstrate experiential approaches that foster connection and authenticity in clinical settings.
  • Equip participants with practical tools to integrate experiential techniques into return to use, prevention and recovery-oriented care.

Dorothy Diamond, MA, LPC, CAADC, CCS

Since 2006 when Dorothy joined Caron Treatment Centers, she began as a continuing care specialist before advancing to addiction counselor, and then to clinical supervisor. She has worked on various adult inpatient units including the Women’s Phase I Program, Men’s Phase I Program, Men’s and Women’s Relapse Programs, and the Men’s Phase II Program.  She currently works as the Clinical Supervisor of the Relapse Men’s, Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Sober Living Programs at Caron Pennsylvania.

Dorothy received her Bachelor's degree in Social Work through Shippensburg University and her Master's degree, with a focus in Counseling Psychology, through Rosemont College. She is credentialed as a Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor and Certified Clinical Supervisor through the Pennsylvania Certification Board. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor through the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage & Family Therapists and Professional Counselors.
