Job Summary:
The Youth MOVE PA (YMPA) Program Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing YMPA's values and vision. The role requires a focus on youth engagement, families, and system partners. The specialist will work towards the creation, development, and enhancement of YMPA. The Program Specialist will provide support to coordinate and implement YMPA's technical assistance for the creation, development, and enhancement of YMPA chapters. Specifically, the specialist will focus on the ongoing support of the newly developed chapter—Youth MOVE Revolution in Luzerne-Wyoming Counties—as part of the Healthy Transitions Grant. This position will require the specialist to work closely with the designated counties, providing expertise and consultation. The Program Specialist will operate within the specified grant area to establish rapport with young adults, while also conducting evaluations to collect essential data as part of the grant. Moreover, the specialist will work in close collaboration with community stakeholders, service providers, and youth organizations to enhance youth engagement. This will involve participating in meetings, providing constructive feedback, and delivering technical assistance as required throughout the grant implementation process. The Program Specialist will report to the Program Director of Youth MOVE PA.
- Please Note: This is a full-time position. Applicants must reside within the grant-designated region of Luzerne and Wyoming Counties.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Proficient in working with the evaluation team to execute the Everyday Leadership Skills and Attitudes assessment
- Ability to collaborate with youth, community partners, and leaders throughout the state
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with individuals from various backgrounds in a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive way.
- Act as a community liaison to develop relationships with service agencies and other organizations
- Provide outreach and engagement between peers and support organizations.
- Facilitate community integration & consistent use of natural resources
- Promote self-advocacy skills and opportunities
- Facilitate linkage to services
- Additional tasks may be assigned as job responsibilities are evaluated and adjusted accordingly
Required Qualifications
- Location: Must live locally in Luzerne-Wyoming Counties, PA or nearby to connect authentically with youth in the region
- Certification: PA Certified Peer Specialist and/or Certified Recovery Specialist/Certified Family Recovery credential in good standing with the Pennsylvania Certification Board (PCB)
- Lived Experience: Personal experience with child welfare, juvenile justice, behavioral health, or system involvement
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Transportation: Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and car insurance
- Skills: Strong writing, speaking, editing, communication, organization, and boundary setting are essential.
- Technology: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
- Clearances: PA State Police, FBI, and Child Abuse clearances
- Familiarity with child-serving systems (child welfare, juvenile justice, behavioral health, and education) is preferred
Preferred
- 1–3 years of demonstrated experience delivering peer support services
- Experience with youth advisory councils or peer-led initiatives
- Background in facilitating workshops or support groups
- Familiarity with restorative practices, trauma-informed care, and youth development

Pay
- $40,500 – $45,000 per year. This role is designated as full-time.
