To provide diagnostic assessments, evaluations, interventions, referrals and alcoholism and/or substance abuse counseling in both individual and group settings with a goal to establish and maintain recovery and relapse prevention. Services occur within the context of a multidisciplinary treatment team approach.

Responsibilities

May perform all or part of the following duties
• Provides initial and ongoing assessment for clients in order to determine diagnosis and appropriate level of care
• Provides individual, family and group counseling, maintaining an acceptable case load, which engages and motivates clients throughout treatment.
• Develops treatment plans that are individualized and culturally sensitive
• Communicates with other care providers and referral sources to increase understanding of client problems and assets
• Participates in professional supervision and education that supports continuous improvement of client care, including weekly case management staff meetings
• Completes required medical record documentation in a timely and comprehensive manner and in compliance with NYS OASAS regulations. Effectively utilizes agency’s medical records software program(s).
• Meets productivity requirements by utilizing various techniques to engage clients and minimize failed appointments
• Participates as a contributing member of an interdisciplinary team in coordination and delivery of patient care.
• Expected to work towards achieving NYS CASAC credential
• *Is compliant with regulations governing HIV: NYS Public Health Law, NYS OASAS Regulations, 42CFR, and other patient confidentiality requirements

Qualifications

EDUCATION
Required Associates Degree; valid Drivers License or availability of reliable driver
Preferred Bachelors Degree
Field Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field preferred
EXPERIENCE
Preferred One year of clinical experience in an addiction treatment setting is preferred (including internship)
REQUIRED CREDENTIAL / LICENSE QHP eligible; CASAC-T, MSW
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• General computer skills, including keyboard and mouse operations; visual and/or auditory capacity.
• The employee may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is expected to adhere to strict policies/regulations relative to being in a tobacco-and alcohol-free workplace.
