Position Opening: Program Director of Clinical Mental Health Counseling (January 2020)

The Psychology Department at Lebanon Valley College is seeking a qualified applicant for a full-time, 12-month (tenure track), Program Director for a new Master’s-level graduate program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. The position will begin in January or August of 2020 at a rank commensurate with the candidate’s experience. The Program Director, in their role as a faculty member within the Department, will be expected to teach courses within the graduate program and engage in commensurate scholarly activities; appropriate release time from these activities will be provided in order to meet administrative responsibilities. The Director will also work with the Psychology Department Chair and program faculty to meet program goals. Further, the Director will be responsible for directing all administrative tasks within the graduate program, including daily management, responding to program inquiries, curriculum development, program budget, establishing and maintaining contacts with clinical internship agencies, communicating with clinical sites relative to student placements and experiences, coordinating activities with all external accrediting agencies, representing the graduate program within and external to the College community, and overseeing faculty hiring, class scheduling, assessment and analysis, student recruitment and advising, course and faculty evaluations. The College has obtained healthcare organization-provided start-up funding (as well as internship and practicum opportunities for students) and is planning to launch its first courses in Fall 2020. CACREP accreditation is planned, and the successful candidate must understand and abide by the current CACREP ethical principles and standards in order to oversee and maintain program accreditation.

Preferred candidates must have a doctorate in Counselor Education (with preference to those from CACREP-accredited programs) or a field related to Clinical Mental Health Counseling, as well as prior teaching experience in counselor education. The ideal candidate should demonstrate membership in professional counselor organizations, possess current licenses within their counseling-related specialty, and show evidence of sustained professional service and development activities within counseling, and research experience within clinical mental health counseling. Further, they should have prior experience within administrative leadership and supervising student practicums and internships, as well as strong organizational and collegiality skills.
